Description:
Intro to Throwing Basics – Part 1
The cylinder and open half sphere are the two fundamental forms in the art of throwing on the potter’s wheel.
In this 6-week introduction, you’ll learn the essential skills of centering, opening, pulling, and shaping clay as you create cylinders and open half spheres—the foundation for functional pottery such as cups and bowls.
Remember… it’s only mud!
The goal isn’t perfection—it’s learning to enjoy the process. Throwing is a conversation between you, the clay, and the wheel. Every piece teaches you something, and every wobble is part of the fun.
This class continues the conversation you began in Intro to Handbuilding, but with one exciting difference…
Now the clay is in motion!
So wear clothes you don’t mind getting muddy, come ready to play, and let’s have some fun.
** Must have completed the Introduction to Clay Handbuilding class with Looking Wolf Studio.
